'America's Got Talent' holds auditions in Charlotte

4,000 people came out to try to become the next big thing on NBC'S hit show, now in its 14th season.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Thousands of people were hoping to land a spot on a major reality TV show this weekend in Charlotte.

"America's Got Talent" held auditions at the convention center in uptown on Saturday.

4,000 people came out to try to become the next big thing on NBC'S hit show, now in its 14th season.

Tommy Duzan came out to play music. He said just being at the auditions was special.

"I've been wanting to get out there for a long time," he told NBC Charlotte. "I'm ready for it."

Ariel Robinson showed up to showcase her comedic skills.

"I'm super excited because I have been working on some new material, and it's either going to make them laugh or cry," she said. "Now I just have to worry about getting my words out."

Each performer was given a few moments in front of a show producer. It's a lot of pressure, but it's just part of what makes the show exciting.

"The best thing about this process is we have people who have never auditioned for anything, and they come out here and give it a shot, said producer Jason Raff. "We've had people who do this professionally, and they come out, so we have all sorts of people come out.

"The thing is, you just never know what's going to happen. Someone steps into your room and you get goosebumps because you know in a couple weeks they could be performing live in front of millions of people," he said.

Folks who auditioned in the Queen City Saturday won't know if they moved on to the next round of the competition until March.
