CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte woman is retiring early after she won big playing the Powerball in South Carolina.
The winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials she was filling up her car at the QuikTrip on the Charlotte Hwy. in Indian Land and sent her son inside the store with cash to buy her a ticket.
Her son checked her Powerball ticket the next day.
“You got it!” he screamed when he saw the first five white ball numbers matched those drawn on Wednesday, March 20.
More than two weeks later the pair traveled to Columbia together to cash in the winning ticket.
“I had time to calm down,” said the Mom, a new millionaire.
