CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte Mecklenburg Police responded to three shootings, including a homicide, in just over an hour Thursday night.
The first shooting happened around 7:15 p.m. in the 2900 block of Forestbrook Drive. CMPD said a 13-year-old boy was robbed at gunpoint by four or five people.
Police said the boy was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The second shooting happened around 7:50 p.m. inside a hotel room at the Inn Towne Suites at 7135 Albemarle Road. Investigators said the victim, a man in his 50s, was shot in the ankle. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center main campus.
Police believed the shooter was outside the room, possibly in a car. Officers told NBC Charlotte the victim is in a known dispute with a subject of interest in the case.
The third shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Rhyne Station Road. Police identified the victim as 25-year-old Matthew Duke Gibbons. At this time, there's no indication the shootings are related, and no arrests have been made.
