Person shot in chest during armed robbery attempt at south Charlotte store

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating an armed robbery that left one person shot in the chest Saturday night.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating an armed robbery that left one person shot in the chest Saturday night.

NBC Charlotte's crew at the scene reports the incident started as a robbery at a tobacco shop in the 900 block of East Arrowood Road. The person shot in the chest was transported to CMC Main with life-threatening injuries, according to Medic.

NBC Charlotte's crew at the scene shot parts of the surveillance video from outside the store while covering the shooting scene.

The video showed three men entering the store with one of the suspects opening fire at the store clerk before fleeing the scene.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say one of three suspects from the incident has been detained. CMPD is still searching for the other two suspects.
