KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Multiple families were displaced after an apartment fire erupted in Kannapolis early Thursday.
Kannapolis Fire responded to a fire at the Cabarrus Arms apartment complex on Wilkes Drive just before 2 a.m. When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from a two-story building.
Crews quickly got the blaze under control and everyone inside the building was able to escape without injury, authorities said. Emergency crews from Concord Fire and the Landis Fire Department assisted Kannapolis firefighters during the operation.
Most of the fire was contained to one apartment, but several apartments suffered water and smoke damage, according to Kannapolis Fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
