UNION COUNTY, N.C. -- Union County officials began investigating what appears to be a deadly house fire Friday morning.
Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire around 6 a.m. Friday morning. Upon their arrival, they found the home heavily "involved with fire."
The responders were able to suppress the flames but later discovered human remains inside the residence.
Officials are continuing the investigation and are waiting for confirmation on the identity of the individual found inside.
