Police: Woman sexually assaulted inside store

It happened at T.J. Maxx in Gastonia last month. Police shared surveillance images of the suspect, Robert Lee Miller.

GASTONIA, N.C. -- A woman said she was sexually assaulted inside a popular retail store in Gaston County.

It happened at T.J. Maxx in Gastonia last month. Police shared surveillance images of the suspect, Robert Lee Miller.

Suspect: Robert Lee Miller

The victim told NBC Charlotte she was in the pet section of the store when Miller attacked her.

“He has a sickening disease,” said the victim.

NBC Charlotte has chosen not to detail the crime because of its graphic nature.

“It’s kind of disgusting he would think about doing something like that to a woman, it’s kind of a disgrace to the woman population,” the victim said.

NBC Charlotte learned Miller was convicted of secret peeping at another store. The incident happened in 2012 at Target in Huntersville. Miller was banned from that property.

TJ Maxx released this statement: “We are working closely with law enforcement but as this is a police matter, it would be inappropriate to comment further.”

“I most definitely will not ever forget his face, and that’s my hope, putting his face out there on the news and all these different avenues is if there are any more victims, please step forward,” the victim said.

NBC Charlotte also reached out to Target, but they did not have a comment.
