CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Bekah Birdsall is the weekend morning meteorologist at WCNC Charlotte. A Texas native, Bekah graduated with a Bachelor's degree in meteorology from Texas A&M University.
While at A&M, she interned at FOX 26 in Houston and KBTX in College Station, Texas, which ignited her interest in pursuing a career in TV news and weather.
Having called Charlotte home for several years, Bekah knows the area — from its unique pronunciations to its notoriously tricky traffic spots. Before joining WCNC, she worked as a meteorologist and traffic anchor, where she covered major weather events like Hurricane Ian, a December cold front with single-digit wind chills, and countless morning traffic incidents.
Bekah took a brief hiatus from broadcast news to work in communications at Lowe’s corporate office in Mooresville. During her time at Lowe’s, she volunteered with Samaritan’s Purse to assist victims of Hurricane Helene in Asheville, North Carolina.
Her broadcasting journey began in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she worked as both a meteorologist and reporter. She started her career just before the pandemic, which made for an untraditional news environment. In April 2020, Bekah helped cover the aftermath of a series of powerful tornadoes that devastated the Tennessee Valley. Her time in Chattanooga was also filled with unique environmental stories, including an unforgettable interview with a local man who turned a trash compactor into a swimming pool for his kids—nicknamed the “swimpactor!”
Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Bekah is a proud Dallas Cowboys and Texas A&M Aggies fan. When she's not forecasting the weather, Bekah enjoys spending time with her husband, whom she recently married, and their 80-pound husky mix, Ralph, who is a full-time member of their family.
