CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Ultimate Dinosaurs: Meet A New Breed of Beast is now a major attraction at Discovery Place Science in Uptown Charlotte. It features prehistoric creatures meeting the latest, cutting edge technology.
There are 16, full-size specimens from the southern hemisphere and brought to life for everyone to see and experience.
Visitors will see the “bad cousin” of Tyrannosaurus Rex, Giganotosuarus, and other breeds like Suchomimus, Amargasaurus, Eoraptor, and Rapetosaurus that evolved in isolation in South America, Africa and Madagascar. The names may be difficult to pronounce, but just seeing these behemoths will leave you speechless.
The Giganotosaurus is the largest carnivorous dinosaur from the area known as Gondwana which covered much of Earth during that time in history.
Also, when you visit Discovery Place Science, there are over 400 hands-on activities for all ages, science demonstrations and special shows. Another very interesting part of the museum is its aquariums with all types of fascinating underwater creatures to be viewed up close. Discovery Place Science allows visitors to design, innovate and create in its state-of-the-art lab spaces.
Discovery Place Science is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday from 10:30 a.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Entry to Ultimate Dinosaurs is free for all museum members and is included in the museum admission fee.
