CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Lovin' Life Music Fest announced it will partner with existing Charlotte-area artists to bring a new creative energy to the festival's lineup.
The festival's organizers are working on collaborations with muralist Matt Moore, Charlotte Is Creative and two Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to unleash what it calls "creative fusion" at the three-day event in Uptown from May 3-5.
"While this is primarily a music fest, it's important for us to highlight and celebrate the vibrant arts community in Charlotte that gives the Queen City personality," Gregg McConnell, the festival's director said.
A collaboration with Charlotte Is Creative will give festival fans an opportunity to find exclusive artwork hidden throughout the grounds. Lucky finders will get to keep what the artwork, and some of the pieces will include special surprises, including artist meet and greet passes and wristband upgrades.
Charlotte Is Creative launched a competition inviting artists from across the Charlotte area to submit digital designs of "Lovin' Life" that will be featured on limited-edition festival merchandise.
"What truly got our attention was when organizers reached out to ask for ideas on how local artists, particularly visual artists, could be part of establishing the festival's identity and presence here," Charlotte Is Creative co-founder Tim Miner said.
Moore, a renowned Charlotte muralist, will bring his unique style to the festival by painting a mural on a 10-foot signature 3D heart at the main entrance. Moore's work has been seen all over the Queen City, including the iconic Luke Kuechly mural in South End and a three-story woman's face with wolf eyes on I-277.
