CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Grammy-nominated band Matchbox Twenty will perform the pre-race concert for the Coca-Cola 600, Charlotte Motor Speedway announced this week.
The band will perform a 60-minute set on the infield prior to the green flag of NASCAR's longest race on Sunday, May 26. Matchbox Twenty, whose lineup is made up of four original members including singer Rob Thomas, will perform their biggest hits during the show.
Matchbox Twenty's debut album, "Yourself or Someone Like You," is 12-times platinum and peaked at No. 5 in the U.S. The band finally hit No. 1 in the U.S. with the release of "North" in 2012.
“Matchbox Twenty’s music embodies the meaning of rock and roll,” Greg Walter, executive vice president and general manager at Charlotte Motor Speedway, said. “We are excited for fans to experience the magic of Matchbox Twenty at the track. Their live performances are legendary and it's a fantastic addition to an already spectacular race weekend.”
The band released its first full-length album in 11 years last May. The band's setlist for the Coca-Cola 600 will chronicle their 30-year history, including their biggest hits in the '90s and 2000s.
Charlotte Motor Speedway will also play host to Circle K Speed Street, which will feature three nights of music. Friday and Saturday acts will be released at a later date.
Tickets for the Coca-Cola 600 start at only $49 for adults. Kids 12 and under get in for $10 with an adult. Click here for more information.
