CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Country music superstar Morgan Wallen, who had two concerts scheduled for July 18 and 19 at Bank of America stadium, had to reschedule due to an illness.
"I hate to reschedule shows, but I powered through being sick in Tampa last night, and unfortunately woke up feeling way worse today," Wallen wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. "I would not give you guys anywhere near 100% tonight and as a result, I need to move tonight's Tampa show to Oct. 4 and next week's Charlotte shows to Oct. 18 and 19."
Wallen has had a troubled 2024 thus far. In April, he was arrested on felony charges after police say he threw a chair off the rooftop of a newly opened six-story bar in downtown Nashville. Then in May, he canceled a series of concerts after being told to rest his vocal cords for a longer period of time. Before then, Wallen suddenly canceled several shows after losing his voice before a performance at Vaught Hemingway Stadium at the University of Mississippi.
And this year is not his first one with issues. He was caught on camera in 2021 outside a home in Nashville, Tennessee, yelling profanities and a racial slur. He apologized at the time but was suspended indefinitely from his label and his music was pulled by radio stations and streaming services. In 2020, Wallen was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct after getting kicked out of a downtown Nashville bar.
"One Night At A Time" tour had overwhelming ticket demand, causing the singer in September 2023 to add a second Charlotte show. Both shows were scheduled to feature support from Bailey Zimmerman, Nate Smith and Bryan Martin.
Wallen extended the tour with 10 new stadiums in 2024, including Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Wallen also added shows in Nashville, Tennessee, Minneapolis, Kansas City and Las Vegas.
The singer's “Last Night” was the most-streamed song of the summer on Spotify’s “Songs of the Summer” 2023 list.
Three dollars of every ticket sold for U.S. dates went to benefit the Morgan Wallen Foundation, which supports programs for youth with a focus on sports and music.
