Fantasia performs "Proud Mary" in tribute to Tina Turner at the Grammy Awards

Barrino-Taylor stunned the audience as she danced in classic Tina Turner fashion to the iconic "Proud Mary."

LOS ANGELES — The 66th Annual Grammy Awards was the show to watch on Sunday, with artists across all genres coming together for music's biggest night.

In Grammy tradition, iconic acts we lost over the last year were honored, including Tina Turner who was tributed by none other than North Carolina native and star of "The Color Purple" film Fantasia Barrino-Taylor.

Introduced by Oprah, Barrino-Taylor stunned the audience as she danced in classic Tina Turner fashion to the hit song "Proud Mary," even busting a move alongside fellow Grammy winner Dua Lipa.

Turner's version of the staple song peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on March 27, 1971.  Ike & Tina Turner won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Group in 1972 and their recording received a Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 2003.

The Grammy Awards also featured a duet of "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman, the song's composer, and Luke Combs, whose cover of the song topped the charts in 2023.
