GREENSBORO, N.C. — Longtime 'Wheel of Fortune' host Pat Sajak will be off-air for good soon. He announced his retirement in June 2023 as his final episode airs Friday, June 7.

Sajak has been the show's host since 1981 when the show aired on network daytime television. The top-ranked syndicated version debuted in 1983, and in 2021, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune premiered in primetime on ABC.

Sajak has earned three Emmy Awards, a People's Choice Award, and a Hollywood Walk of Fame star. In 2011, he was presented with a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Will Vanna White leave too?

Whether or not Vanna White will remain on the show is still an open question.

"I can't wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel and working alongside the great Vanna White," Seacrest said when the announcement was made in June 2023.

Who will replace Pat Sajak?

Ryan Seacrest will become the newest host of Wheel of Fortune, starting September 2024.

You can catch Wheel of Fortune weeknights on WFMY News 2 at 7 p.m. followed by Jeopardy! at 7:30 p.m.
