CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Who says you have to be an athlete to be a world champion? Certainly not Meggie Sullivan, the owner of Queen Bree Charlotte.
This morning she joined us to talk about world champion cheese: “...with the Olympics approaching we want to preview some cheeses that you may want to add to your charcuterie board.
Here's a breakdown of the three she shared this morning:
Schuman Cello Copper Kettle Parmesan - This robust cheese has the sharpness and the fruity notes of a classic Parmesan. It’s rindless and aged for 2 years. It’s Beige with golden hues, semi-hard, crunchy crystals, creamy on the palate, and bursting with classic Parmesan flavors. It pairs with Chianti, Sherry, Port, light Italian reds
Marieke Gouda - It is a mild-flavored and semi-hard cheese. One of the reasons it has a more mild flavor palate than other cheeses is due to how it’s processed. The cheese curds are “washed” with warm water to separate them from the whey. It’s another Wisconsin product that takes 6-9 months to age.
Castello Creamy Havarti - is a mild and aromatic cheese with just a hint of tanginess. Soft and creamy, its taste develops more character with time. Even with its creamy consistency, Castello Creamy Havarti Cheese is easy to slice and enjoy, it is just right for everyday urges to have a snack . “It’s is perfect for a cheese board and sandwiches.
To jazz up your board add fruit, nuts, berries, olives, crackers and honey. You can stick with the Olympic theme by adding Red, White and Blue colors wherever you can.
