As a father of two daughters, Mike Hugo always dreamed of dancing with his girls on their wedding day. Unfortunately, Hugo knows he likely won’t be able to fulfill that wish. Last April, he was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma, or GBM, a cancerous and aggressive brain tumor. The survival rate for newly diagnosed patients is just 5-10%.
Hugo didn’t allow himself to lose hope and instead he focused on researching available treatment options and working with his doctor on a treatment plan which includes Tumor Treating Fields, or TTFields. This therapy uses alternating electric fields delivered at a unique frequency that allows it to selectively disrupt GBM cell division.
He also became focused on how to stay present in the lives of his two daughters – now and in the future. After a video he made for LinkedIn and Instagram went viral, it caught the eye of country music star Tim McGraw who invited Mike and his daughters to Nashville to record songs that will be later compiled for their future wedding videos.
