CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Baseball fans...today is the day you've been waiting for! Today (April 2nd), is Opening Day for the Charlotte Knights, in Uptown Charlotte at Truist Field Park.

Charlotte Knights not only provide exciting baseball to residents, the team also helps the community thrive in many ways.

This morning, Dan Rajkowski, Chief Operating Officer for the Knights and Mason Bradley from Riverstone Logistics shared more on a special partnership raising funds this season...every time the Charlotte Knights get a hit.

Truist Field, is a multi-purpose multi-functional stadium that not only houses baseball but also amazing fun events like Light the Knights (sledding and skating in a winter wonderland ), hockey, fireworks and more.

“Opening Day is today April 2nd and we are so excited to bring baseball to Uptown Charlotte”  says Rajkowski.  He adds “the schedule includes 75 games for fans to enjoy and to get ready the field (turf) is brand new.”

This will be the 10th Season, the Charlotte Knights play their Triple-A affiliate games in Uptown. It’s a great opportunity to catch some top-notch baseball action.  The Charlotte Knights are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League and the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. They play their home games at Truist Field, which opened in 2014 and is located in Uptown Charlotte

“We've welcomes over 5 million visitors since the field's inaugural opening” says Rajkowski.  Every Sunday home game features a “family fun-day” theme with different characters. Kids can also run the bases after the game on Sundays.  The Knights often introduce new theme nights throughout the season, adding extra excitement to the ballpark experience such as Bark in the Park, and fireworks.

This year the Knights are partnering with Riverstone Logistics, and Riverstone is sponsoring all the Suites at Truist Field. This morning we learned from Mason Bradley, with Riverstone Logistics:  "for every home game hit, Riverstone will donate $100 to help support foster kids in the program Congregation For Kids."

Rajkowski adding: "this is a great way to help the community and serve some of the most marginalize children in the city. This is a perfect partnership that is in line with the mission of Charlotte Knights Charities”.

For years, people have supported the games and the efforts of the Charlotte Knights.  If you haven't been to a Knights game, you have to check them out!  At Truist Field, you'll be able to catch, some incredible and even see some players make the jump to the Major League.  For generations QC Families have gone to the games...on today's show we introduced you to one of those families.
