Cabinets and Storage are often a central part of Builds and Renovations

Cabinets & storage play a key role in drop zones, mudrooms, kitchens & bathrooms

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Cabinetry is the center of most renovations and new home builds, and often function to help make spaces as efficient as possible.

This morning, we were joined by Interior Designer Lauren Clement, and Scott Holcombe from Autograph Cabinetry and Design. While paint, tile, lighting are all important aspects of most home projects, we learned cabinetry is at the heart of any design.

“Maybe it is a mudroom that needs a drop zone for busy families, a new kitchen full of all of the organization you could dream of, or a new bathroom vanity that you are looking to design” says Clement. “We are seeing a demand for storage and functionality in this industry” says Holcombe. He adds “at Autograph Cabinetry and Design we maximize your cabinetry investment when working on a project.” Here are a few ideas when choosing cabinetry:

1. Smart Storage Solutions!- In a kitchen remodel or renovation, there are so many opportunities to create a better way of living in your space. There are so many hidden features in cabinetry today that countertop clutter is truly a thing of the past. From hidden knife blocks, to magic corners, pocketing doors, and so much more, you will be wowed by all of the ways that you can keep clutter at bay... but to also live and work in a very well organized and efficient space.

2. Materials are so important! Material selection helps to create visual interest and can be achieved by using different types of wood species or designs. We also use glass and metal framed doors or shelves for depth and interest. “Paint and stain color as well as hardware are also key things to consider when designing your cabinetry” says Clement.

3. On island time- Islands are a place to make a major statement, either with color, a different type of material or simply to house comfortable seating as we all know this is where everyone will gather.
