One of the most philanthropic things one will do is to help clear the shelters by adopting a pet. Joining us today on the show with more, was Dr. Susan Bonilla, Owner of Passionate Paws Animal Hospital and Danielle Spuler, President of South Charlotte Dog Rescue.

South Charlotte Dog Rescue (SCDR) is a non-profit, no-kill, volunteer dog rescue organization serving the South Charlotte, NC area. SCDR has observed a great need in the community to rescue, foster, provide medical care, and love for the unwanted, homeless, neglected and abused animals in the area. They are dedicated to rescuing dogs left homeless for whatever reason...dogs in public shelters where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation and an over-abundance of backyard breeders, dogs given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances.

Passionate Paws Animal Hospital™ mission is to practice integrative medicine in partnership with you to provide the safest and most effective healthcare plan uniquely designed to treat your whole pet, not just the disease and create a visit experience that alleviates fear, anxiety, and stress.

Clear the Shelters is a nationwide initiative that helps find loving homes for animals in need. The 2024 campaign runs now through September 10th.

“Right now it is so important to help Clear the Shelters post covid because of the overabundance of animals we all have” says Spuler. She adds “when getting a pet you need to consider what type of lifestyle you have and are you busy on the go or do you have time to care for a pet? Plus what type of breed should be highly considered and do you want an animal that is laid back or high energy? Do you have kids or not? Can you adequately care and give love for this animal looking for a forever home? Things like having a fenced enclosure and walking your pet, medical shots, spayed or neutered status should be considered. "

“We’ve brought two animals Kingsley (longest resident at SCDR) and  Nymeria (Dr. Bonilla's dog that she adopted from SCDR) as representatives of what is possible when it comes to adopting animals at the shelters” says Dr. Bonilla.  She adds “we are urging all to participate in the Clear the Shelters event taking place on the 7th at the Passionate Paws Matthew location."

Here is your chance to meet the animals and see if your home is a fit for our furry residents.

If you can’t visit that location go to any of the local shelters near you. Get ready to fall in love with the beautiful pets at the shelter, they bring so much love and joy to a family . For more information visit passionatepawsanimalhospital.com or southcharlottedogrescue.com
