Here with more on how those donations, help Goodwill carry out services to help the community are Sam Story and Kwain Bryant. Donations to Goodwill truly make a difference in so many ways!

Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont opened its doors in 1965 as an independent Goodwill affiliate agency with fewer than 20 employees. Today they are proud to be a 21st century leader in regional workforce development and employer of more than 1,000 people. Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont is a nonprofit organization that connects people to opportunities to find gainful employment and meaningful work.  “I lead Career Navigation at Goodwill” says Bryant. He adds “this is a vital component to what we do at Goodwill. When you visit a Goodwill Career Center, you’re treated as more than just a number. You’re a person with unique skills, interests and desires. Our Career Centers offer computer access, resume review, job search support, course enrollment, family stability assistance, the opportunity to meet with a career navigator and more! Each Career Center is equipped with knowledgeable staff who can assist you as you work to launch your next career."

“We helped over 7700 people to pathway of success and we want to remind people that we are a non-profit entity” says Story She adds “that’s why we are doing the Decluttering Challenge.” It is recommended that to declutter you need to use the Four Box Method.” This method makes decluttering easier by speeding up the decision-making process. Find and label four boxes – the throw away box, the donate box, the storage box and the keep box. As you go through a cluttered room in your house, pick up each item and ask yourself how often you use the item. Put items you still use regularly in the “keep” box, and items you still use but not as regularly in the “storage” box.  For items you no longer use, ask yourself if the item is gently used. One thing to consider when deciding whether to donate or throw away an item is if you’d feel good getting it as a gift or a hand-me-down. If you wouldn’t want to receive it, chances are someone else probably wouldn’t either. Toss those items!

YOUR DONATED ITEMS MAKE A DIFFERENCE!  Once you’re organized, you’ll be in a perfect position to donate what you no longer need to your local Goodwill. Those items will then be sold to fund career training courses, job search support, family stability services and more – all of which we offer free of charge to thousands of people in our community each year. Not only will your efforts help you be better organized, less stressed and more productive, but they’ll also help someone else in your community.  For more information visit Goodwillsp.org.
