CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Would you say you’re a "Wheel" watcher?
Do you tune in to try and solve the puzzles before the contestants? If you answered "yes" you'll love this next segment. Dacquin Curry joined us this morning to share what it's like to be a contestant, and spin the big wheel.
Wheel of Fortune is a part of Americana. Most of us have grown up playing the game as entertainment and a way to challenge our intellectual skills.
“I grew up watching the Wheel of Fortune with my mom and thought it would be fun to be a contestant one day” says Curry. “My audition was done via zoom and I did not hear anything for a month before being picked." We also learned, the audition process was smooth, and easy. Curry says, "once, I got to Hollywood California I was nervous and excited. The atmosphere was amazing and the set was neat and colorful. Pat and Vanna are really real! And they’re super cool humans. The day of taping was a long event. I met so many great and wonderful people. My mother who is a huge Wheel fan accompanied me to Hollywood. I didn’t tell her until days before we boarded the plane. Instead, I told my mom I had a real estate conference to attend and that I was nominated for an award. She still didn’t want to go but I made her. I told her the truth a week before we left only because she had to fill out a form as a guest. It’s a great experience but it’s not as easy as sitting home watching the game. Its nerve wracking and exciting and sometimes unpredictable."
Curry adds: "Once the cameras are rolling, You Are Competing and trying to Win! The spin of the board can make you or break you. My segment aired last Friday. I will never forget my time on the Wheel.”
