CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Goodwill is known for helping people find work. That was the focus of the mission statement written 50 years ago. But a lot has changed since then, and what we do goes far beyond employment. Over the years, goodwill has adapted their services to meet the evolving needs of the community. “Our purpose shifted to helping people see possibilities, seize opportunities and prosper and our aspirations have grown, we believe our mission, vision and values should grow with us” says Sears. Goodwill has stood firm and are direct and clear when it comes to their values and commitment to creating more equitable career opportunities for all.
“As you know donations and shopping help fund our mission of providing job training and career services to people in our community free of charge” says Story. She adds “This fall, our nonprofit is focusing on drumming up lots of donations through a “Donate & Win” marketing campaign, which launched this month.” Here is how it works: Any individual who visits any of our donation locations will receive a flyer from the donation attendant that has a QR code to enter to win a weekly $500 cash prize. Anyone who donates within a week – and enters into the raffle – is eligible! Weekly winners are Randomly Selected and then announced via an email.
Goodwill has already had two winners in the Charlotte region, and there will be more! Those who give their gently used items have an opportunity to win, but also pay it forward to people in our community looking for assistance. Goodwill exists to help people see possibilities, seize opportunities and prosper. We envision a community where equitable access to career opportunities is available for all. Goodwill builds pathways that help people pursue the life they want to achieve.
