The Biscuits
Needed:
-1 stick(1/2 cup) of cold butter, cubed
-2 cups self-rising flour
-3/4 cup buttermilk
-Melted butter (be generous:)
In a bowl ...cut butter into flour until it is loose crumbs of buttered flour:)...add buttermilk just until moistened ...dump out onto a floured surface and knead just a few times ....then roll out and use a biscuit cutter to cut biscuits or just mold the whole thing into a square and cut into squares and put onto a greased or buttered :) sheet pan (second way is a good way to use the whole dough and make sure everyone knows you made homemade biscuits)
-add melted butter to the tops immediately after taking out of oven
-cook at 425 for 11-13 minutes
And there is the base for all three versions
Tomato..bacon..cheese biscuit
Needed:
-1 vine ripe tomato
-Sharp cheddar cheese
-two slices of crispy
-softened butter
Use biscuit recipe above and add a little sharp cheddar to the top half way though the cooking (still add melted butter when they come out of the oven)
Slice open and butter each side of biscuit and a slice of tomato with salt and pepper and then a slice of bacon
Sooooo yummy!
Chocolate Gravy Biscuit
Needed:
-3/4 cup sugar
-3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
-1/4 cup Hershey cocoa powder
-1 cup of whole milk
-1 cup of heavy cream
-1/2 stick (maybe a little more if not buttery tasting enough:)
-a pinch of cinnamon
For maximum butter enjoyment: cut biscuit in half and butter both sides ....add some cinnamon sugar ...AND then top with chocolate gravy
Soooo yummy!
Serve with an egg frittata:
-A dozen of large eggs
-Onions and red pepper (buy the frozen Stir fry package in frozen food section to cut out cutting and cleaning of vegetables) (brown with the sausage )
-cook ground hot sausage
-sharp cheddar
Salt/pepper
Whisk all together and then cook at 400 in a greased cake pan. Cook until center is Cooked and top is brown. You can serve with fresh chopped tomatoes on top and chopped green onions.
Such an easy way to cook eggs and can keep for the week for leftovers
