CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Today is International Yoga Day and if you've never tried it, now is your chance!
Doctor Felicia Tozzi, CEO of QC FIT YOGA joined us today with some poses you can do at home .
Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness. Today it is practiced in various forms around the world and continues to grow in popularity. Recognizing its universal appeal, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations proclaimed 21 June as the International Day of Yoga.
The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga. “At QC FIT Yoga our mission is to truly define what is health by bridging the gap between mental health and physical health through the transformative practice of yoga” says Dr. Tozzi.
She adds “It’s about the Yin (classes that are quieter and restorative) and the Yang (classes with more activity like fusion) and we offer a variety of helpful yoga classes.”
Take the QC POWER - Body & Mind class it is an energetic and dynamic yoga class that focuses on building strength, increasing flexibility, and improving cardiovascular endurance. This class is designed to challenge and invigorate both the body and mind, making it perfect for those looking for a more intense and fast-paced yoga experience.
The QC YP FUSION – Yoga & Pilates is a unique and dynamic class that combines the best elements of both yoga and Pilates. This class is designed to provide a comprehensive and balanced workout that focuses on strength, flexibility, and mindfulness. Participants will experience the flowing movements and deep stretches of yoga, combined with the core-strengthening and stability exercises of Pilates. The class is suitable for all fitness levels and is led by experienced instructors who guide students through a series of poses and exercises that target the entire body.
The QC Unwind Slow Flow is for all levels. Unwind and destress while learning the fundamentals of flow. In this all-levels class, you will move slowly and meditatively through breath- synchronized movements designed to create softness in your body and relieve unwanted tension and stress.
