Summer Break with Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is a literacy program that encourages reading and learning for all ages. The program runs through July 31 and includes six activities – reading, creating, exploring, giving, playing and writing – that help families and communities connect and learn new things.
Customers are encouraged to use the “Beanstack Tracker” mobile app to track accounts, reading time, learning and leisure activities. The app is available for free download through the Google Play and Apple App stores. Summer Break participants will receive a coupon for a free Jr. Frosty from Wendy’s for signing up.
Charlotte FC and Carowinds have teamed up with the Library to provide a four-pack of tickets to an upcoming match or a two-pack of tickets to Carowinds in random drawings throughout the summer for program completers.
Summer Break participants complete the program by earning 1200 points. 1 minute of reading equals 1 point. At least 600 points must be earned by reading (equivalent of 10 hours). Learning activities are worth 20 points each.
