Allergy season is hard on us all, but we have to make sure we are also taking care of our pet's allergies! Dr. Susan Bonilla from Passionate Paws Animal Hospital joined Charlotte Today to share ways to help your pets from home.

First up: flea allergies. Your pets will be irritated near their tail and you'll usually be able to find the ticks on them. Dogs can be allergic to flea saliva, so it's important to keep them up to date with flea and tick prevention.

Next up: food allergies. A lot of dogs have allergies with food that has feathers. Whether it's turkey or chicken, if you notice itching after your dog eats it may be best to switch to a dog food with beef instead.

Lastly, environmental allergies. Your dog can have similar allergies to you and you can treat them similarly! Wash off their paws with a wet wipe, clean out their ears, and you can even give them Zyrtec. Just check with your veterinarian on the dosage.

If your pet isn't getting better with these treatments, you can reach out to Passionate Paws. To find out more information, go to PassionatePawsAnimalHospital.com.
