Founded in 1966, ECPI University promotes a student-centered learning environment as well as personal and professional development through education. Here with more about October Tech month is President Roger Rocha of ECPI University.  “Computer science has come a long way from it early beginnings from Fortran and Basic” says Rocha.  He adds “now students are more advanced and programming with Python and using APPs and the Internet as a part of everyday life. ECPI has met their demands." ECPI University has pursued a path of sustained growth based on addressing the needs of students and employers while playing a key role in the mid-Atlantic’s economic development.  The University eventually expanded its program offerings to include a variety of degrees in engineering technology, health sciences, nursing, business, and criminal justice. ECPI University also extended its reach by opening additional campuses and locations in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Texas, and through online programs.

ECPI University is different from traditional school, because it caters to the adult learner. “We know that career changes happen all the time especially if you’re coming out of the military” says Rocha. He adds “We are equipped to handle those changes.” The schedules are also flexible (day, night, online options). He adds “ we can put you on faster path to a degree because of 5-week terms, no large breaks.” The Curriculum utilizes a hands-on learning approach and ECPI wants to remove barriers for those interested pursuing a career in technology. Our Online campus programs are Industry-Driven Programs. ECPI maintains rigorous academic standards and are complemented by robust student support services. ECPI student education is practical learning. Our applied learning complements a strong theoretical foundation that prepares our graduates for the workplace and to stand in the workforce gap. There is opportunities for students post-graduation. Students have opportunities to demonstrate professionalism by participating in on-site employer interviews, networking, and professional events including career fairs.

In honor of Technology Month, ECPI University is holding an on-campus You Can Do Tech event on October 21st. Open house will be from 9am – 2pm. Come and join the fun, interactive demos, tech exhibits and lab tours to see hands-on programs. Meet and talk to the Program Directors, Faculty and staff on-hand, to answer any questions.  If you are thinking about career change or nursing or computer technology then give ECPI University a try.  For more information visit ECPI.edu
