CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Today’s Olympic spotlight features the father of 2024 Olympic Hurdler Anna Cockrell, Mr. Kieth Cockrell, President of Bank of America Charlotte.
“We are so excited to be a part of our daughter's journey in the 400 Meter Hurdles for the 2024 Olympics” says Cockrell. He adds “this is an exciting time for our family as we support our daughter Anna in her quest to be on the podium. I had no idea how good my daughter was when she started jumping over hurdles."
We learned from Cockrell: "As a young girl, she was introduced to the 100m hurdles and one day when I went to pick her up from practice, the coaches began raving about her ability. That was my first inkling that she may be able to do something significant and special.”
He went on to add: "now we find ourselves headed to the Olympics once again, where's she'll be competing for a medal. We all do our part to assist in the process, for instance some things remain constant like our family prayer and lunch before a race, and her sister Sierra making sure Anna’s hair and make-up is set.”
"This year we will be in full force supporting Anna as family and very close friends in Paris. Fourteen members of our family and friends will be in Paris for the 2024 Olympics. Anna has matured and put in the work necessary to be worthy to be on the podium in the 2024 Olympics. She runs and performs the way she does, because she's happy! As a Dad you can't ask for more than that!"
