CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Today we have an Olympic inspired workout that will get your heart rate up and get you ready for the Olympic excitement.
We’ve invited Motivational Fitness Trainer Meghan Trainor to take us through an Olympic Theme Workout! “We are all so excited to watch the Olympic but beyond the competition there is the constant working out the athletes are engaged in” says Trainor. She adds “these exercises are just a small sample size of what the athletes are doing in preparation for the Olympics and the hope is to inspire you and the kids to watch and support the Olympics.” Here they are:
Exercise 1: Basketball squat and shoot – This exercise mimics a free throw snf is a great cardio exercise.. Mimic a free throw by squatting with an imaginary ball in hand and thrust up from heels to toes as you mimic shooting a Free Throw. Repeat exercise for 30 seconds
Exercise 2: Boxing Punch Sequence– This is a good shoulder and cardio workout. Get into a good semi squatted stance. Set your hands like a boxer and then Left jab, Right Cross, Left Hooks , Right Hook and repeat.
Exercise 3: Golf Abs & lower body – Assume a skater position and rotate shoulders over your front knee. Switch sides and continue to rotates shoulders over alternating front knee.
Exercise 4: Tennis Smash - Get into a tennis guard position and take a step forward and simulate a forehand smash,. Retreat back into starting position and then move forward executing a backhand smash. Repeat for 45 seconds
Exercise 5: Cycling – This is a great core exercise. Sit down on a mat Lean back at a 45 degrees angle lift feet in the air and rotate legs as if riding a bicycle. Repeat exercise for 30 – 45 seconds
