As of December 1, 2023 about 600,000 North Carolinians are now eligible for Medicaid coverage with changes made by state lawmakers. This means that more people than ever before will have access to high-quality affordable healthcare across the state. Medicaid provides health care to many in North Carolina, with nearly 2.1 million people across the state already leveraging the benefits.

It is important to know if you are eligible for Medicaid because keeping continuous health coverage allows individuals to have access to critical medical care and preventative services without interruption while providing financial security.
