Fried mozzarella balls
-8 ounce package of Pearl Mozzarella balls(starting point but make as many as you like)
-A loaf of Italian bread (thin slice and top with olive oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper
- toast at 400 in oven and then when crispy
- let cool and put in food processor for homemade bread crumbs)
-2 beaten eggs
-1 cup of flour
-vegetable oil
Bring oil to 375 in a deep skillet with the oil about an inch and a half up the pan
While it’s warming ...
Pat dry the mozzarella balls and then coat with flour...then the egg ...then the homemade bread crumbs ...you can probably do about four at a time and cook a lot in the pan
This is super easy and should take no time at all!
Once they are golden brown....remove from pan and put on paper towels to drain grease .....and then add some fresh Parmesan cheese on top of them and serve with homemade marinara sauce
Fried dough:
Go to Publix or your neighborhood pizza place and ask if you can buy a fresh pizza dough...they will say yes:)
-pull off dough and roll the dough into the same size balls as the mozzarella balls
- cook in the grease the exact same way as the mozzarella balls (only you aren’t coating the dough in anything)
-Once they are golden brown and taken from the pan....add a little fresh Parmesan and fresh chopped parsley ...salt and pepper ..maybe even a little good olive oil
Freezing both of these before frying would make them turn out even better
Dipping sauce
4 Fresh Roma tomatoes chopped (or whatever you have since it’s summertime)
1- clove of garlic chopped
2-fresh basil leaves chopped
2- tablespoons of Lemon juice
-salt and pepper
Mix all in the food processor and add whatever is needed. Add Italian seasoning if you like.
Warm on the stove top and then add fresh Parmesan to top when you put in serving dish....
All of this should only take 30 minutes or less.
You can make marinara while the dough and mozzarella are frying.
