Recycle the Runway is a unique fashion show crafted and designed by students attending a Mecklenburg County public or private high school. Students model their amazing designs and creativity with an Avant Garde outfit that is crafted from 85% of recyclable materials. For six-years, Recycle the Runway has been held in Mecklenburg County and has returned over $100,000 in prize money to local schools.
Keep Mecklenburg Beautiful (also known as KMB) is a 501(c) affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, established in 2004. KMB is directly supported by Mecklenburg County Solid Waste Management Program that seeks to create a united community focused on environmental stewardship that will ensure a healthy life for all. To achieve this vision, KMB helps empower the residents of Mecklenburg County to take greater responsibility for enhancing their environment, thereby resulting in a community of pride and choice for people to live, work and recreate.
