STEM activities you can do at home

The Dottie Rose Foundation has great camps for girls

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Engaging in STEM activities at home is a way to foster curiosity, learning, and skill development. Dr. Sharon Jones from the Dottie Rose Foundation joined Charlotte Today to explore two at home activities that foster problem solving, applied science and math and technology.

Skittles Science & Animation: get skittles and pour water over the top. The colors will slowly start to trickle out, but will not mix. You can get a stop motion app to watch the colors bleed out over time.

A GeoBoard Pumpkin Challenge is a great way for kids to practice making different geometric shapes. Get a pumpkin and insert nails, and then let the kids make different shapes with rubber bands.

For more information or to sign up for camps, visit dottierosefoundation.org.
