This morning we were joined by Michael DeMayo to talk about the Arrive Alive Scholarship presented by DeMayo Law.
This program is something our Law Firm is passionate about – saving lives” says DeMayo. DeMayo Law has started the clock for local high school seniors who are looking for a chance to win a $2,500 scholarship for their college education by participating and being selected in the 22nd annual "Arrive Alive Scholarship Program". "The scholarship program was started by me wanting to do something more impactful for parents who lost their kids in car accidents” says DeMayo.
He adds “initially the law firm awarded five $1,000 scholarships to Mecklenburg County high school seniors who wrote essays directed at other teenagers on how to reduce or eliminate underage drinking and driving which was a reoccurring pattern that we were seeing in our practice with predictable devastating outcomes.” Over the years, the scholarships grew to the current number of 15 winners across 23 counties who each receive a $2,500 scholarship. In addition to writing essays, high school students can express themselves in a variety of presentations, including billboards, brochures, website home pages, or music videos. The objective of the presentations is to reach and impact the target audience through peer-to-peer messaging and highlight the dangers of underage drinking and distracted driving.
DeMayo Law has awarded over $737,000.00 in total scholarships over the years and will be awarding an additional $37,500 in college scholarships this year to 15 high school seniors who reside and attend schools in the following counties: Mecklenburg, Gaston, Catawba, Union (NC), Cabarrus, Cleveland, Lincoln, Rowan, Caldwell, Stanly, Iredell, Alexander, Burke, Robeson, Scotland, Richmond, Anson, Cumberland, York, Lancaster, Chester, Cherokee, and Chesterfield. DeMayo Law has consistently tried to reduce the countless injuries and deaths caused by underage drinking and driving and distracted driving.
“We will continue do our part in sharing information and promoting awareness in our community with programs like the Arrive Alive Scholarships. Applicants must be high school seniors who have applied for full-time enrollment at a four-year university or college and return the completed 2024 scholarship application packet to the law firm by March 11, 2024. Information and submission requirements can be obtained through your high school counseling office or https://demayolaw.com/scholarship-program/. "
Winners will be selected based on the student’s presentation, as well as their application, SAT/ACT scores, transcripts, and letters of recommendation. For more information about the scholarship, contact the DeMayo Law Scholarship Committee at DeMayoScholarship@demayolaw.com
