Using football & other fun avenues to get kids excited to learn math

Sylvan Learning can help kids learn in a fun way

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — When the holidays are just around the corner, it is the most wonderful time of the year in children’s eyes because school’s out for a nice, extended break! However, just because classes are not in session, doesn’t mean that children should stop learning. Although kids deserve a time off from scheduled lessons, graded projects and testing, parents should use this time to encourage their children to take what they learned in school and apply it to real life situations. There are many activities families can do together to promote learning outside of the classroom during holiday break.

Math is a great subject to transfer over into a learning moment for kids.· For younger students, basic addition can be applied when teaching how the game is scored. Word problems can also be utilized to describe plays for them to add and subtract yardage, scores, etc. Roman numerals can be converted to regular numbers. Students can play a matching game or even put past Super Bowl titles in order by year.
