CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Filming is underway in the Charlotte area for the new Starz series "The Hunting Wives."
Crews were spotted at the Dilworth Tasting Room in South End on Wednesday morning. Workers there confirmed they were shooting a production for Starz, which was later confirmed to be "The Hunting Wives."
The series is set to star Brittany Snow, Malin Akerman, Chrissy Metz, who starred in NBC's "This Is US," as well as Dermot Mulroney. The show is based on May Cobb's novel with the same title. Rebecca Cutter, the creator of "Hightown," is tabbed as executive producer of the project. The series is being produced by Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment Production. There is no set release date for the series.
"The Hunting Wives" is about the life of Sophie O'Neil, whose family moves from the East Coast to east Texas, where she finds herself consumed by obsession, seduction and murder. Starz ordered an eight-episode order to the drama series in October, according to Deadline. The outlet reported it was the first new Series picked up by the network since the end of last year's writers strike.
Film crews were spotted in downtown Mooresville in early April. The town's official Facebook page posted photos of the set with signs that said "Maple Brook, Texas," but declined to confirm what project was being filmed. Multiple people commented that it was "The Hunting Wives" and posted about seeing crews filming in multiple locations, including around Lake Norman.
