App State grads turn their love of clothes into a way to give back to young girls

Kailyn Zimmerman and Brianna Riccarelli took their fashion sense and launched a meaningful business with the goal of giving back to young girls in the Charlotte community.

Let's face it! Most girls love to shop, but two Appalachian State grads are turning their love for clothes into a full blown business.

Kailyn Zimmerman and Brianna Ricciarelli launched To the Hills last month, and there's a special meaning to the name.

"What we really wanted to do was incorporate our faith, so it comes from Psalm 121, which is ‘I lift my eyes up to the hills where does my help come from,” said Zimmerman.

The girls spend their days at their full-time jobs in corporate America, but on the side, their apartment looks like a showroom, with racks of dresses, skirts, rompers, and shirts, all chosen carefully from buyers in New York City, ready to ship out to customers when they order online. The clothes and styles are fabulous, but the impact is greater. Part of the proceeds from the clothes will go directly back into the Charlotte community to Girls on the Run.

"They want all girls to feel confident in their own skin and embrace their uniqueness," said Ricciarelli

So show the girls some love. Check out their clothes, and help give back to the Queen City.
