CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Taking a small step closer to green energy sustainability, the Carolina Panthers partnered with Powerhome Solar to install hundreds of solar panels around Bank of America Stadium.
The panels were placed on top of concession stands along the top concourse. They won't be seen by fans on game days, but Powerhome Solar said everyone should look into the benefits of renewable energy.
"Our goal is to have customers understand the benefits of it, and make our environment a better place," said Powerhome Solar's Brandon Goodnight. "The value is the day the system is paid off, essentially it's producing free power at that point."
Bank of America Stadium marks the third NFL team Powerhome Solar has worked with. The company said more team partnerships are on the way.
Once the panels go through an inspection process, they will be fired up to produce electricity in the coming weeks.
