CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte has been named one of the best places to live in America by U.S. News & World Report.
Charlotte ranked eighth in the outlet's general rankings of the best places to call home in 2023-24. This year's list evaluated the country's 150 most populous metropolitan areas based on how they meet Americans' living expectations. Grading factors included value, job market, desirability and quality of life.
Green Bay, Wisconsin, topped the list, followed by Huntsville, Alabama, Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina, Boulder, Colorado, and Sarasota, Florida.
"We're thrilled to be recognized as a great place to live," Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles said. "The word is out that Charlotte is a great place for both businesses and families, with economic opportunity for everyone. Thank you to all our residents who contribute to making our city truly special. We will continue our work in making Charlotte an even better place to call home."
The measures used in this year's rankings were weighted in part based on a public survey, according to U.S. News & World Report. The rankings also factored in data from the National Weather Service, FEMA, FBI and the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
