CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte 7th-grader made her debut on Broadway Tuesday night as a young Elsa in "Frozen the Musical".
Anna Rae Haller attends Holy Trinity Middle School, according to the school's website, and previously went to St. Matthew Catholic School.
Haller's school said she got word she won the part about six weeks ago. Blumenthal Performing Arts posted video of her reaction on Twitter Monday.
"A HUGE congrats to Charlotte-native Anna Rae Haller who is making her Broadway DEBUT as "Young Elsa" in @FrozenBroadway," the theater wrote, calling the role an "epic gig".
Haller announced the news herself on Instagram Tuesday morning.
"I'm so thankful to all of my family and friends for all your love and support during these crazy past few weeks!!" she wrote.
Haller also thanked local Charlotte theater, her voice coach, and others for helping her along the way.
Holy Trinity Middle School said Haller just started performing in the summer of 2018 and has appeared with Matthews Playhouse, CPCC Theater, and Theatre Charlotte.
Haller and her family moved to a 1-bedroom apartment in Manhattan a few weeks ago as she rehearsed for opening night, according to the school.
Haller's brother and sister go to Charlotte Catholic High School, and her older sister is at UNC-Chapel Hill, the school said.
"Thanks to all of you, I get to live out my dream in NYC and I couldn’t be more excited and grateful to be joining this incredibly talented cast!!" Haller said.
