CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte couple won more than $500 playing a real-life version of Monopoly in Charlotte.
Justin Engel and his fiancé Katherine were going for a stroll in uptown this past weekend when they spotted the Monopoly square.
"We went for a walk in uptown and tracked down all of the squares," Engel said. "We just got lucky."
Engel said he won $200 plus $75 in Uber cash and his fiance won another $200 and $50 in Uber cash.
Engel said it's pretty easy to play the Monopoly game. Players just have to go to the Ally website and get the clues for the squares, which are all over uptown Charlotte.
"The game is all augmented reality so you point the camera and the square and a Monopoly man comes up that says you won, or you didn't win," Engel said.

Ally + Monopoly will also feature a Community Chest square, where players can help raise money for the Charlotte Junior Achievement chapter just by landing on it. Every time that a player passes the virtual Community Chest, Ally will donate to Junior Achievement, totaling up to $125,000 nationally.
The clues on the Monopoly board game are directly related to the Queen City. Those interested in playing the real-life Monolply game have until October 28.
