Community program gives students an opportunity to learn media production

The Creative Cornerstone is a nonprofit teaching filmmaking, live performance, and more.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — AJ and Queen Williams are a husband and wife team who started a media production company in 2021.

Creativity Evolved has been very active in the Charlotte creative community over that period of time. This all takes place through a diverse range of public programming that includes showcasing local talent and involvement in festivals and celebrations.  This all helps in their ultimate goal of nurturing artistic growth and community engagement.

Their mission has now been taken a step further through a new program called The Creative Cornerstone.  This is a nonprofit that is totally focused on getting young people interested in media production.  They are dedicated to making sure those who lack access to resources will have the chance to nurture their talents. It could even help them pursue careers in media production.  Those disadvantaged youth can enhance their abilities, increase their critical thinking, and get that opportunity to allow an innovative career path to take place.

For kids interested in film, music production, spoken word, and photography, it’s an opportunity tailored to their interests and designed to help them refine their craft.  Through skill development those young people involved get practice, skills in film work, and recording and mixing music. It also provides special classes for crafting meaningful poetry.

An added advantage of the program is it provides the confidence participants gain through live performances in front of an audience.  This includes enhancing their public speaking and communication skills.

At the conclusion of the program, students have the chance to showcase their own creative achievements.

A special digital arts showcase serves as the platform to demonstrate their new talents and, in turn, raise awareness about the socio-economic disparity experienced by young artists.  The creative cornerstone is committed to nurturing the next generation of media producers and storytellers.   At the same time, the event promotes social awareness and change.
