GASTONIA, N.C. — It’s that time of the year when “farm fresh” is a reality at the Gastonia Farmers Market.
The vendors are all local and grow some of the freshest and best-tasting fruits and vegetables in the Carolinas, WCNC Charlotte's Larry Sprinkle found.
Everything sold there is 100% vendor-grown or made. There are strict rules for those vendors. That’s why you can always expect the finest every time you shop at the market. The philosophy there is when you can spend your food dollar directly with local farmers and sellers, it strengthens the local economy, protects family farms, preserves open space, and protects the natural environment.
The Gastonia Farmers Market sells produce, meats, eggs, dairy products, baked goods and fresh-cut flowers. Special events are held throughout the year including live music, fall twilight markets, trick-or-treat night and a Christmas craft fair.
The market area has been planted with pollinator-friendly flowers and is protected from pesticides to provide valuable habitats for bees and other pollinators.
It’s all part of making the Gastonia Farmers Market a special place to visit, whether you’re from the area or visiting from out of town.
