CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Camryn Williams is a 12-year-old honor student and competitive gymnast. But the Charlotte native is more than that - she's also the pre-teen slime queen.
During the pandemic, Camryn took a fun pastime and started her own business as a "slimeologist."
At five years old, Camryn became fascinated with the classic kid's favorite: slime. She enjoyed playing with it, making it, and watching videos with other kids doing the same thing.
A few years later, during the pandemic, Camryn's passion for slime inspired her to get creative and start a real business...at the age of nine!
During the uncertainty of the pandemic, Camryn and her brothers "thought of a slimetastic way to turn frowns into smiles." They worked together to create a business plan, which her parents happily approved. And, just like that, Camryn turned her hobby into a business and was off into the world of slime merchandising.
"Slime is more than just a noun," Camryn said. "I want everyone to know that S.L.I.M.E. is 'Savvy, Loving, Innovative, Mindful, and Empowered.'" Camryn wants other kids to "Be S.L.I.M.E."
Camryn's Slime Shoppe creates excellent quality slime for kids of all ages. Camryn and her mom created a colorful and informative website that gets tons of positive feedback.
"Making slime is science. Science is chemistry. Chemistry is all about liquids, solids, and gases," Camryn told WCNC Charlotte. "It's about the different glues and activators coming together to make the gooey slime."
Camryn's Slime Shoppe provides basic slime facts and info, along with sections on "virtual slimebrations," "back2school slime" and "slimebrations."
