ROCK HILL, S.C. — For nearly 40 years, Adult Enrichment Centers (AEC) has served the Rock Hill area. AEC is a nonprofit organization that “champions equity for adults of all abilities.”
Together with the staff, board members, volunteers, and partners, AEC provides programs that are directly aimed at benefiting a meaningful life to everyone in the program. That includes dignified and individualized care, revitalizing programming, and supportive communities.
Something very special has happened for the York County nonprofit: It has broken ground on a new 10,000 square foot facility to help those with all abilities.
The nonprofit's “Momentum Campaign” was the catalyst for the project. It’s the first arts-centric program for neurodiverse adults. Now, they are ready to start construction on the School of the Arts.
The building will not only serve their neurodiverse adults during the day but it will become a space for the community during the evenings and weekends. AEC said that makes it totally inclusive.
This facility will have specialized arts programs, music programs, culinary programs, life skills programs, and other projects to train and prepare adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Currently, the AEC holds programs at their location off Park Avenue in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The goal for the new space is to be complete in early 2025.
