Autistic student going to prom with Steve Smith

A Gaston County student is going to prom with an NFL superstar.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Gaston County student is going to prom with an NFL superstar.

According to the Gaston Gazette, North Gaston High School student Aubrey Bridges was asked to prom by former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith.

Bridges lives with autism and a rare condition known as “Vein of Galen Malformation,” which is an aneurysm that develops in the brain. She deals with an auditory processing delays and speech difficulties as a result of the condition.

The Dream on 3 organization reached out to Bridges via video message with Smith formally asking to take her to prom.

“I am excited because Steve Smith Sr. asked me to prom,” Bridges told the Gazette. “I am so happy that I danced. Brandon and Elizabeth Lindsey, my friends at Dream on 3, are making my dream come true.”
