BEECH MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WVEC) -- Drop off your inhibitions at the Fountain of Youth and head deep into Oz where your tour guide is none other than Dorothy (Gale).
The Land of Oz theme park offers visitors the opportunity in June to step into the world captured in the film The Wizard of Oz (1939), which the writing of L. Frank Baum inspired.
People will make their way along a yellow brick road for the Journey with Dorothy. The ruby-slippered guide will invite some guests to play characters from the movie, including Scarecrow, Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, and the Wicked Witch of the West.
The park opened in the 1970 but closed in the 1980s. The owners invite people to visit it at different times.
Journey with Dorothy tours will take place on June 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, and 30.
Tickets go on sale April 20. They are $25, plus taxes and processing fees. There is no admission cost for children who are 2 years old and younger.
The park will open again in September for Autumn at Oz (Tickets: $40) and in October for a new event that is yet to be announced.
