Charlotte shelter dogs hang with Hootie & the Blowfish and Edwin McCain

The musical artists performed at PNC Music Pavilion Thursday and invited CMPD Animal Care & Control dogs to visit!

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A handful of adoptable pups from CMPD Animal Care and Control just got to hang out with Hootie and the Blowfish band members and crew, along with singer-songwriter Edwin McCain. The musical artists were performing at PNC Music Pavilion on Thursday.

The invitation was extended in an effort to shine a light on the area's homeless pets and the needs of animal shelters.

Hootie and the Blowfish bassist Dean Felber and his wife Andrea have a nonprofit called Dean's Dogs, which works to get shelter dogs adopted and raise money for the overall cause nationwide.

According to the Dean's Dogs website, the charity was "inspired by their love for music and animals," and "combines [Dean's] passions by tossing to fans guitar picks adorned with the faces of adoptable dogs during his performances. Each pick represents a dog that you can help support through donations."

The spotlight on Charlotte's animal shelter is much needed, as it deals with regular overcrowding and need for volunteers, fosters, and donations.
