'A very slippery situation' | 9-foot long python taken into custody by Greensboro police

It was pretty sssneaky.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A Burmese python was "arrested" on Friday, Aug. 2 for preventing a driver from getting into their car.

Yes, you read that right.

The Greensboro Police Department (GPD) was called to Battleground Avenue to wrangle the 9-foot-long danger noodle from under the car.

The python was taken into custody by several Guilford County Animal Control and police officers.

The Animal Services director suspects the snake is someone's pet that got out.

Someone found it under the car and then called animal control. The snake then got up into the skid plate of the car.

One of the officers who grabbed the snake said it's safe to say, today was not a normal day at the office.

"It's definitely the biggest snake call we've had. We get a lot of snake calls.  None that are 8 to 10 feet, especially not in a parking lot in front of a business. It was new to us," said Ashley Knox, an Animal Control officer.

Believe it or not, this type of snake is not illegal to own in North Carolina.

The state only has laws against owning a venomous pet.

The python was promptly posted to GPD's Facebook page on Friday and the community had a lot to say.

"At that point he can have the car! Him and his family," wrote Taylor.

"New fear unlocked," commented Becca.

David on the other hand called the situation "Hissterical."

Whatever perspective you have on the matter, we can all agree the python was pretty sssneaky.
