CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Sycamore Brewing is teaming up with a Charlotte-based dog rescue to host adoption events and raise money with its monthly charity beer sales in March.
Forgotten, Now Family is a women-led dog rescue that will make Sycamore's South End taproom its home for future events. The organization specializes in rescuing neglected and unwanted dogs, especially those that need special medical attention.
“When the opportunity for a partnership and a regular monthly event came about, I couldn’t contain my excitement," Chrissy Elder, the founder of Forgotten, Now Family, said in a news release. "Sycamore Brewing & Taproom gives us a place to gather regularly and allows the community to be part of our growing family."
The partnership kicks off with an adoption event from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 7. During the event, Sycamore will unveil its monthly charity beer, in which all proceeds for the limited release benefit a nonprofit. This month's beer, Pappy Hour, is named after a senior rescue dog that hit it big on Tik Tok. All profits from Pappy Hour will benefit Forgotten, Now Family until the supply runs out.
“Becoming a home taproom for a local dog rescue is a vital part of our Sycamore Cares initiative this year,” Sycamore Brewing co-owner Sarah Brigham said. “We are looking forward to welcoming Forgotten, Now Family and their adorable, adoptable dogs into our taproom each month."
In addition to this week's adoption event, Forgotten, Now Family will host regular events at Sycamore's South End taproom and encourage members in its daycation program to visit the brewery. The daycation program allows approved people to pick up a foster dog for the day and care for it, the rescue says.
